Compare the Ford Edgeto the GMC Acadia and Jeep Grand Cherokee

Choosing an SUV that fits your lifestyle can be challenging. Not only do you need one that hits the road running and doesn't quit, but you also want one that accommodates your ever-changing needs day-to-day - that can be a tall order for some lineups. However, with the new Ford Edge, you'll get all the power, convenience, and comfort you need for your daily commute or a weekend adventure with your friends and family!

While the Ford Edge is an innovative option for families and solo drivers alike, other lineups might sway you into thinking there are better choices for you. With models like the GMC Acadia and Jeep Grand Cherokee, you might wonder which model is right for you. Here at Ciocca Ford of Quakertown, we're happy to help you make the decision! We've compared the two competitors to the Ford Edge below so you can see which one suits you best!

Ford Edge vs. GMC Acadia

When it comes to power under the hood, the GMC Acadia doesn't come close to comparing to the new Ford Edge. The standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine in the Edge delivers 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, outpacing the Acadia's 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet, respectively. Upgrading to the GMC's V6 does add more capability, but again, it fails to compare to the Ford Edge's 2.7-liter EcoBoost® engine. When you want the most power, Ford is the way to go.

Seating inside provides both Edge and Acadia owners with plenty of space to stretch out. However, the Ford Edge is a five-seat SUV, while the GMC Acadia can expand to offer up to seven seats. The GMC Acadia is certainly an option if you're looking to add even more friends and family to your next adventure, but you'll need to sacrifice a little more cargo space to accommodate them. The Acadia only offers 12.8 cubic feet of storage space when you have a full ride. On the other hand, the Ford Edge will allow you room for up to 39.2 cubic feet of storage when all the seats are filled.

Ford Edge vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee

Staying connected while on the road is an important aspect of shopping for a new SUV that you should never ignore. Both the Ford Edge and Jeep Grand Cherokee offer a host of exciting features to add a little more intuitive control over your music, apps, navigation, and more. The Edge includes the available SYNC® 4A infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, voice recognition, and cloud-based connectivity. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee offers an available Uconnect® 4C NAV system that makes do with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and the same smartphone integration. However, the Ford Edge also offers a new 12.0-inch touchscreen on higher trim models - the Grand Cherokee can't compete with any of its available screen sizes.

Both SUVs come with stellar safety systems, but the base model of the Grand Cherokee will limit you, with a couple of limited safety features. The Ford Edge's Ford Co-Pilot360â„¢ driver assistance system offers the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, a Lane-Keeping System, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. While the Jeep Grand Cherokee does offer the first feature, you'll need to upgrade to the ProTech II system to access similar features to the latter two.
