Compare the Ford F-150 Lightning to the Chevy Silverado EV at Ciocca Ford of Quakertown

When you're looking for a new work vehicle, a pickup truck often tops your list. With powerful performance, durable frames, and handy features, full-size trucks make working easy and convenient. However, stopping to fill up on gas isn't always convenient. Why not avoid that? With the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning, you can! This all-electric truck offers effortless power thanks to electric motor capability, pairing its lineup with numerous features you will want to get your hands on.

However, Ford isn't the only lineup to consider an all-electric truck. The Chevy Silverado EV is on its way to the roads, and it might be hard to pick between the two. Here at Ciocca Ford of Quakertown, we want to help you choose the truck that delivers the performance, capability, and conveniences you need to get the job done. Below, you'll find a comparison of the two all-electric pickup trucks, where we detail how the Ford F-150 comes out on top. Let us know if you have any questions.

Ford F-150 Lightning vs. Chevy Silverado EV

When you pick out a new truck, there's a good chance you want something that can tow and haul supplies to the worksite or your home. While both models are expected to tow up to 10,000 pounds, the base models tell a different story. The Ford F-150 Lightning tows up to 10,000 pounds from its base trim, allowing you to manage supply runs quickly. However, the Chevy Silverado EV only tows 8,000 pounds at its base level. If you're loading up the cargo area, the Ford truck holds the advantage - it can carry a payload of 2,000 pounds, while the Silverado EV only manages 1,200 pounds.

Who doesn't want to make their towing experience easier? The Ford F-150 Lightning has you covered! The lineup features the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and onboard scales. None of these features are offered yet in the Silverado EV, making the Ford pickup a more convenient option.

Speaking of features, the F-150 Lightning has plenty of innovation for you to explore. The Mega Power Frunk, a "front trunk" feature, offers up to four Pro Power Onboard 120V outlets for a total of up to 2.4-kW of exportable power. The trunk also offers class-leading 14.1-cubic feet of cargo space, capable of carrying 400 pounds of weight in its payload. While the Chevy Silverado is sure to have plenty of features, it can't quite match the capability of the Mega Power Frunk.

When you need the right battery for your drive, you won't find many options available to the Silverado EV. It only employs one rechargeable battery option, while the Ford F-150 Lightning offers two batteries. The Standard-Range battery offers an estimated range of 230 miles. Those drivers who need a bit more from their truck will want the Extended-Range battery, extending the range to 300 miles on a single charge.

When you need technology, the Ford pickup is ready to show you what seamless connectivity should look like. The standard SYNC® 4 infotainment system features a 12-inch touchscreen, while the available SYNC® 4A system comes with a 15.5-inch touchscreen. The Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 system keeps you and your passengers safe from the rigors of the road. If you're looking for more convenience, options like the Interior Work Surface, multi-contour seats with Active Motion®, and heated/ventilated seats are available. We can't say the same for the Chevy Silverado EV pickup.
