Compare the Ford Rangerto the Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline

Sometimes, you don't need the biggest truck with the most torque, power, and towing capacity. A midsize truck offers enough power and performance to take care of the jobs around your house, and what better lineup to offer you help than the new Ford Ranger? Packed with the latest Ford technology and the same durable and versatile mindset that makes every Ford model the envy of other lineups, the new Ranger is ready for any challenge.

While the Ford Ranger is an impressive option, it doesn't come without its challenges for top-dog status. The Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline are in the same class, but they lack the class, capability, and convenience standard to the Ford Ranger lineup. See how they compare down below!

Ford Ranger vs. Chevy Colorado

Under the hood, the Chevy Colorado offers a few more options than the Ford Ranger. However, the Ranger ensures that its one engine is all you need, beating out the Chevy Colorado in several ways. The new Ford Rangers comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, the latter offering a class-best gas-engine performance that the Chevy Colorado can't even match with its 3.6-liter V6. While it does produce more horsepower, you'll find the 275 pound-feet of torque lacks the oomph that the Ranger delivers.

Safely managing your drive is something most vehicles shouldn't forgo, but unfortunately, the Chevy Colorado will make you pay extra to enjoy some added confidence on the road. Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger offers a host of features courtesy of the Ford Co-Pilot360™ package. With standard features like Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and pedestrian detection, Forward Collision Warning, and Dynamic Brake Support, the Ford Ranger is ready for anything.

Ford Ranger vs. Honda Ridgeline

While the Honda Ridgeline offers plenty of power, it won't match what the Ford Ranger can do. The Ridgeline comes with a standard 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque - the Ranger can do you much better. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost® turbocharged engine delivers 270 horsepower and a class-best gas-powered torque of 310 pound-feet - the Ridgeline can't even come close to that power. Thanks to that torque, and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Ranger can tow a maximum of 7,500 pounds, 2,500 pounds more than the Ridgeline's maximum capability.

Both models offer plenty of technology inside, allowing you to customize the drive to match your needs on the road. The Ford Ranger comes available with the SYNC® 3 infotainment system, along with features like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration and voice-activated controls that let you keep your eyes on the road. The Honda Ridgeline is similarly equipped, enjoying an eight-inch touchscreen with a configurable setup and integration for both Apple and Android devices. However, the Ford Ranger takes it a step further, including Amazon Alexa Built-In for traffic information and Amazon Prime shopping on the road. You can also connect multiple devices to the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, available with the Ford Ranger lineup. The Honda Ridgeline offers neither of these features, limiting you to less connectivity when you take on your next drive.
